Community Lending Officer

Wilbraham, MA

Monson Savings Bank is currently seeking a Community Lending Officer responsible for furthering the organization’s mission through building and maintaining relationships with community members and local organizations, generating and originating mortgage loans.

This Exempt, Full-time position works within the Loan & Operations Center located at 75 Post Office Park, Wilbraham, MA, and travels to meet with prospects and business partners within the Springfield MA area.

Some of the position responsibilities include:

  • Cultivates and nurtures relationships and consistently engaging with realtors, attorneys, and local agencies to foster collaboration and support.
  • Research and recommend strategies to aid the Bank in maintaining competitiveness within the defined market area.
  • Originates residential and consumer loans, with a focus on first-time, low- and moderate-income, and underserved applicants and geographies within the Bank’s market areas.
  • Responsible for knowledge of and adherence to internal loan policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, secondary market products and guidelines as well as mortgage insurance programs.
  • Responsible for ensuring that loans move quickly and efficiently from application to closing by working closely with other team members and providing courteous and cooperative assistance as needed.
  • Responsible for compliance with regulations relating to mortgage products.

Preferred candidate has established connections with realtors, community organizations and/or centers of influence in the Springfield MA area, and experience working with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. NMLS licensed or willingness/ability to attain, with general understanding of community lending needs. Familiarity with FHA, VA, USDA, Conventional, and state bond programs (i.e. MassHousing) and knowledge of local down payment assistance programs. Professional, customer service-oriented leader with excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated success in building/expanding customer relationships is essential, with strong networking and interpersonal skills. General understanding of fair lending, with ability to read, comprehend and apply institution policies, procedures, and related lending materials.  

Must be adaptable, reliable, and possess the ability to work successfully both independently and in a team environment. Strong math abilities, computer literate, i.e., familiar with Windows environment, Excel spreadsheets, strong keyboard skills; ability to prioritize and manage time and multiple responsibilities with strong problem solving, decision making and organizational skills. Ability to speak Spanish is preferred but not required.

Equivalent combination of Bachelor’s Degree and 3 - 5 years of related community engagement and/or mortgage lending experience preferred.
